History Outline
Since November 1, 2016, National Hsinchu University of Education has been formally merged into "National Tsing Hua University", and the enrollment has been consolidated starting in 2017 academic year. After the merger, the " College of Education " and "College of Arts" have been created in the University to provide students with more comprehensive educational resources to promote holistic education, facilitate a better learning environment, and bring in a new way of learning in art education, research, and industry collaborations. Moreover, it offers varieties of higher education services to increase the University's contributions to the society.
The Center for Teacher Education of the University originally mainly focused on the training of the students of teacher education in middle schools. On the other hand, the former Center for Teacher Education of Hsinchu University of Education, which had solid foundation of teacher education from the former Teacher's College, was focused on the general subjects of elementary school education, special education, as well as the preschool education. Therefore, after the merger, the Center for Teacher Education integrated the original courses from the two universities and established a complete K-12 teacher education system to offer comprehensive, topic-based pedagogical approach in teacher education, from which it greatly enhanced the achievements of the students in learning science, engineering, arts, humanities, and digital learnings.
After the merger, the University carefully examined both the strength and weakness of the University's internal conditions, opportunities and the external competitiveness, it strategically increased investment in library facilities to expand various research areas and attract more outstanding talents to join.
In addition to continuing the solid development of teacher trainings, the University also combined teaching practices with academic research developments for systematic enhancement in teaching education field. Furthermore, in response to the trend of global changes, the focus of the Center is aimed to strengthen the cultivation of high-quality teachers to meet the needs of the future generations by integrating and streamlining the pedagogies of teacher education from kindergartens to middle schools. This provides students with an overall view of teacher educational system so that they can understand the current situations of the developments in domestic education, as well as promoting the benefits in vertical integration of K-12 educational system. It is hoped that through such advanced teacher training programs, the Center would be able to cultivate and inspire students to become high-quality, passionate teachers in this field.
